Cambian Lufton College is an independent specialist College providing a high standard of education and care for students 16-25 with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder or moderate to severe learning difficulties. Offering the potential of day placements for local students and residential care for up to 52-weeks, they successfully support students with a broad range of complex needs including medical requirements and challenging behaviour.

Lufton College has a team of skilled and knowledgeable education, care and clinical staff that deliver a high standard of quality learning through person-centred programmes. Students have the opportunity to access a rich and balanced programme of educational activities that span the waking day while living in an inclusive environment enabling them to build upon their strengths and interests, as well as gaining new and useful skills for life.

Lufton College offers opportunities for external accreditation through the Qualifications and Credits Framework (QCF) which is a key component in their work to help young people with a learning disability gain life skills.

Self-esteem is essential to young people progressing into adulthood encouraging a passion for learning and broadening their horizons. By offering the opportunity to undertake nationally recognised vocational qualifications, Lufton College help young people gain confidence and lead socially active and engaged lives.

All students follow a programme of Practical Living Skills within real–life supported living and community environments, with the aim of developing independence skills such as personal care, cooking, shopping, cleaning, laundry, travel training and community awareness. The core curriculum is complimented by a wide range of specialist activities that enable students to develop new friendships and interests.

Residential students are encouraged to develop and maintain healthy lifestyles, with a focus on positive social and emotional wellbeing. They take an active role in planning the weekly menus for their accommodations, with staff providing students with the knowledge and support to make food choices that contribute to a healthy and well-balanced diet.

Lufton College encourage their students to express their views that are important to them about College life. Their input shapes the curriculum, staff recruitment, opportunities for personal development and the support they receive. This is achieved through learner tutorials comprising 1:1 meetings to discuss anything related to the College, on and off-site advocacy services and the Principal's cards used for questions, comments or concerns.

Lufton College's range of multidisciplinary therapies are delivered by a highly skilled and passionate team who work together to achieve a holistic inclusive environment. This includes Speech & Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Music Therapy as well as Psychological and Psychiatric Support. While working collaboratively with staff during their time at Lufton College, the Clinical Team are also actively involved in students transitions when their placement ends allowing them to understand and prepare for the next steps, whether that be further education, Supported or Independent Living on into employment.
