About Foxes Academy

At Foxes Academy we strive for excellence within teaching and learning. Our courses are holistic, offering young adults with learning disabilities tuition in hospitality and catering skills in a working hotel - Foxes Hotel which is open to the general public. We believe in changing lives and giving our learners the skills, knowledge and confidence to achieve their potential.

Our curriculum promotes independent life skills and work-related experience that leads towards qualifications which are recognised by employers, along with outstanding outcomes.

Outstanding Outcomes

Our learners achieve nationally recognised qualifications in Hospitality and Catering. Young people develop their English, Maths and ICT skills in our Functional Skills courses leading to a range of ESB and City & Guilds qualifications. For the year 2016-17 learners achieved 100% pass rates in all formal examinations and assessments.

In 2018 The Academy scooped two of the education sector's most prestigious national awards - Overall FE Provider and Specialist Provider 2018 at the TES FE Awards. The judging panel was unanimous in its decision. It said: 'The Academy aims to equip learners with the skills, knowledge and confidence to successfully shape their own futures.'

Independent Life Skills

Independent Living Skills are taught in structured sessions as well as embedded throughout the learners’ Personal Development, Health & Welfare time. We also educate and track progress in the "soft skills" so valued in life and by employers such as confidence, teamwork and taking responsibility.

All of our residential accommodation is beautifully furnished and situated in a prime location within the town. The students are carefully matched to each house depending on their ability and the progress that they make as they complete their course. Learners participate in house meetings and representatives form a Learner Voice committee. The Learner Voice reviews all aspects of the organisation and helps influence change and development.

Employment Outcomes

We actively source and develop work experience placements for our learners so they can transfer their learnt skills successfully into the workplace. To date we have worked with over 50 regional employers. We have a partnership with Hilton Hotels who offer paid employment to our graduates.

73 per cent of Foxes Academy's leavers from the past 3 years (2015 to 2017) have entered employment.
