Young people with complex disabilities and learning difficulties are at the heart of everything we do - that's why we were named Specialist Provider of the Year at the TES Awards 2019. Judges said: 'National Star are swimming against the tide by sticking to what they do best - and doing it better than the rest.'

We work with more than 70 different local authorities and support students with a range of needs.

Personalised learning

We offer programmes of learning that are tailored to meet the needs of individual students, preparing them to live more independently and learn new skills. Our commitment to excellence was recognised as Ofsted 'Outstanding' in 2018. For some students learning to make choices and work with others will be what matters, whilst others may wish to develop work skills in real, practical environments.

Learning opportunities are highly flexible and tailored to meet the needs of individual students; this is why 95% of National Star leavers achieved their primary learning goals in 2017-2018. We're proud that last year 44% of National Star leavers progressed to live outside the family home.

Our locations

With campuses in South Wales, Herefordshire and Gloucestershire we support day and residential students to achieve their aspirations. Our facilities include an aquatic therapy pool, sensory suites, dance studio, theatre, sports facilities, swimming pool and adapted gym.

Our accommodation

We have a number of residences on our main Ullenwood campus and at the heart of local communities in Cheltenham and Gloucester. Each residence offers a different experience. Some have large communal living spaces and kitchens ideal for shared living. Others have flats to prepare students for living on their own or with friends.

The Care Quality Commission rated our residential accommodation at Ullenwood and Elizabeth House in Gloucester as 'Outstanding' in all areas.

Life after college

From day one we work with students to put together a plan for life after college. We offer a range of work-based programmes to ensure the best long-term job outcomes. Recent alumni have gained jobs in financial services, hospitality and the creative arts.
