St Mary's is a residential School and College for young people aged 7-19 with speech, language and communication difficulties and associated complex needs. We are committed to providing the best learning opportunities through the delivery of integrated education, therapy and care tailored to each young person’s individual abilities and aspirations. The pupils are taught in small groups and follow individual pathways through an exciting broad and balanced curriculum, delivered by highly qualified teachers and support staff with the integrated support of therapists. Depending on their needs, pupils access individual therapy programmes which may include specialist support from Speech and Language Therapists, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, and Health and Wellbeing Team including and an Educational Psychologist, Clinical Psychologist, Nurse and Health Care Assistant. Other specialist professionals include a team of Sign Language Tutors and a Child and Family Support Worker. Here at St Mary's, we do all we can to support each pupil to develop and maximise their communication skills. Parent signing classes are offered on site or via Skype to ensure families can communicate with their child as effectively as possible. At St Mary's, our residences are warm and caring places, creating a 'home from home' feel. In nurturing and stimulating environments we work with our pupils to develop life skills and encourage everyone to learn and live with each other. Opportunities to take part in a wide range of activities are available every day, with children and young people accessing the local community on a regular basis.
