Our young adult services offer flexible education care and support for up to 52 weeks per year for young people aged 18-25, who have complex needs including behaviour that may challenge and a learning disability, often in association with autism.
At The Paddocks, everyone lives within a beautiful rural setting with ready community access and The Limes is in the heart of the community, in an urban setting with many local facilities including a sports centre, restaurants and shops.
We have 2 pathways available for the young people attending college.
Formal Education Pathway with a focus on gaining educational qualifications, skills and experience to move on to employment opportunity and further independence in their lives.
Next Steps Pathway for young people who have completed their formal educational route and are now wishing to build vocational and independence skills for life style experience and development- including social enterprise work.
Both pathways offer accreditation in the skills and qualifications the young people achieve, but the journeys are varied and personalised to the young persons needs and outcomes at this significant life stage.
Education: Everybody has a highly personalised programme of learning, equipping them with skills they will need for adult life.
Extended learning: During evenings, weekends and college holidays a wide range of extra-curricular activities are on offer to ensure people are fully engaged with stimulating experiences both on and off site providing further, meaningful learning opportunities.
Professional services: A dedicated multi-disciplinary therapeutic team including college tutors, college support workers, consultant clinical psychologist, consultant psychiatrist, applied behaviour analysts, speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, registered manager, care and support staff work together to support each individual's progress.
High quality accommodation: College accommodation includes individualised bedrooms, quality living spaces that promote independence and progressive skills development assisted by the appropriate use of specialist/adaptive technology. We also have a range of on-site and off-site facilities that offer progressive learning opportunities for young people with a range of needs and wishes.
Keeping in contact: We work to develop relationships between staff and families that are strong, positive and mutually respectful. People are supported to be in contact with their friends and family; we welcome visits to the colleges at any time. Everyone has a plan that will include the best means for them to maintain this contact whether by 'phone, letter, email or Skype.
