Special Needs

The Rise School was set up by the Ambitious about Autism Schools Trust. Established in 2014, it's a vibrant environment dedicated to educating pupils with autism aged four to 19.

The Rise School is located in west London on the same campus as the Springwest Academy, a thriving secondary mainstream school. This enables pupils to access learning and social opportunities alongside their mainstream peers, whilst receiving the specialist support they need.

Pupils at The Rise School access the national curriculum at approximately the same ages as their peers. The school works hand in hand with parents and carers, the Springwest Academy and other local schools, community groups and employers to maximise opportunities for pupils to enjoy and succeed in their learning. This helps them transition to a fulfilling and rewarding adult life.

Using our Ambitious Approach to education, our curriculum gives all pupils the opportunity to learn and develop in a creative and supportive learning environment, which has a clear focus on recognising achievement, supporting progression and where pupils feel happy and safe. The curriculum is personalised, innovative, creative and flexible to help us meet each pupil's needs.

The Rise School is a free school inspected by Ofsted as Good.

The school's values are Be Proud, Be Resilient and Be Kind.

The Rise School Sixth Form opened in 2019, building on the successful model of The Rise School. Based at West Thames College in west London, the sixth form was set up to address the need for more post-16 specialist provision for pupils with special educational needs in the UK.

Using our Ambitious Approach to education, the sixth form offers a high-quality wrap around curriculum, placing equal emphasis on social and academic outcomes. Students access courses based on life and employability skills – to prepare them for adulthood, employability, apprenticeships or university.

The Rise School Sixth Form is based in a purpose-built provision on the fourth floor of the Sir Joseph Banks building at West Thames College. Through the partnership – and co-located model – pupils can access a wide variety of courses offered by West Thames College, whilst receiving the specialist support they need from dedicated staff at The Rise School Sixth Form.
