Residential and day non-maintained special school and college for pupils and students aged 7-19 who have speech language and communication needs and additional special educational needs, including autism, learning difficulties and associated complex needs.
St Mary's School and College is a safe, well-resourced and supportive environment in which pupils/students live and learn together. Our focus is on ensuring all of our pupils/students receive the integrated support they need to enable them to achieve their potential and take their place in the community.
The school provision at St Mary's is for pupils in Key Stages 2, 3 and 4. In addition to supporting Speech, Language and Communication needs, the school and college offers a personalised plan for each pupil to access a broad and balanced curriculum, fully integrated with on-site speech and language therapy, physiotherapy and occupational therapy, social, emotional and mental health support and opportunities to develop independence and life skills.
In our college provision at KS5, students become increasingly independent and confident. Students choose subjects they wish to study from a broad selection and leave us with a range of qualifications including GCSE, BTEC, Entry Level and other relevant Level 1 and 2 qualifications. The Vocational Centre, alongside our careers curriculum, provides opportunities for our college students to develop employability skills and experiences.
St Mary's has high quality on-site residential houses, offering a 'homely' and supportive environment for pupils and students to live and learn for up to 38 weeks a year, promoting independence at every opportunity. There is capacity onsite to offer additional provision and we can offer extended day, overnight respite or short stay opportunities for day students.
